Kids say the darndest things… sometimes they write them as well. First off, shoutout to all my fellow Rowdy Rocker parents doing their best to homeschool in this current environment. Do not give up. If you feel frustrated, take a break, walk around, and then remind yourself that your little is also probably going through a lot of anxiety and frustration about not being able to be around friends and classmates. You are not a professional educator, but we can all try our best to plug the holes until some form of normalcy returns to our society.
Having said that… I’m doing my best to balance being a good father, employee, husband, AND homeschool professor. For our Social Studies section the other day, I tasked my 9 year old to write about some good ways to become engaged in your community or state to make a positive difference. I then had to work on the computer for a while. The picture featured above is what said 9 year old came up with. I did not encourage the kid to write about corona, this is just what the little came up with by itself. I do my best to try and explain the reality of the situation without fear, politics, or panic. Which is almost impossible if you turn on the news. To say I’m a proud papa would be an understatement, and I hope you find some positivity in a communal sense from my 9 year old’s words.
If you’re looking for some way to exercise with the whole family, P. E. Joe is rocking it on the YouTubes for ya. My kid’s school sent out this link as a resource for families looking for a form of exercise whilst sheltering in place. This guy has been making work out videos for a while, and some of his older videos are great for adults. A couple weeks ago he started live streaming work outs suitable for all ages and he’s blown up on the internet. His live stream now has over 1 million viewers and his videos regularly hit the multiple million mark. My family works out with P.E. Joe. Does yours?
