Austin bars to stay closed for now

Austin’s nightlife will remain void of bars and nightclubs for awhile.

Governor Greg Abbott said he gets it, “we know that bar owners desperately need to open up in order for them to have some level of income.” But, considering the nature of bars in which tight quarters in an indoor space could let coronavirus run rampant, he said he needs to hear from the bars themselves about tangible solutions.

“We want to hear from bars about the types of strategies that you can use.”

The Governor said he needs to hear clear-cut details because, so far, the state still hasn’t found a solution to making sure safe distancing is observed at bars.
