A popular Austin bartender – who we will call J. Oliver – recently started a firestorm on social media claiming that LSU fans are way better tippers than local Texas fans.
Naturally, most of this person’s (we will call him Jon O. to keep him anonymous) friends disagreed but then fellow bartenders and servers started chiming in.
Guess what? THEY COMPLETELY AGREE and provided more examples from around town.
We all know Louisiana is one of the poorest states in the union (not to mention its trash education system, and low literacy rate) and that LSU fans are generally classless garbage people.
So why is the general sentiment among service industry folks that their fans tip better than ours?
Is it because folks who can afford to travel and buy away game tickets can just afford to tip better? Is it because rich kid UT students just don’t know any better? Or is there something deep to this mystery?
Either way, fellow Austinites, I implore you to take better care of our service industry people – especially if you are wearing UT gear.
