Warrant Amnesty in Austin!
It's that time of year again for the Austin Municipal Court Warrant Amnesty period which encourages individuals with outstanding warrants to come forward to take care of them. The warrant amnesty will take place February 1st through February 28th. If you have an outstanding warrant, you can voluntarily appear and NOT be arrested, plus warrant fees will be waived. If you have charges filed in Austin Municipal Court and Downtown Community Court, this is the time to come forward and take care of your warrants! There will also be FOUR mobile events this year at Southeast Branch Library on Feb. 4th, Feb. 13th at the Pleasant Hill Branch Library, Feb. 20th at Rutherford Auditorium, and Feb. 25th at Terrazas Branch Library, all from 4-8pm. Come in voluntarily and you WON'T BE ARRESTED.
The goal of this yearly program is to free up resources in the legal system and give individuals an opportunity to come forward if they've been delinquent or have procrastinated dealing with warrants. Olivia Cosby, Court Operations Manager for the Austin Municipal Court, stopped by Local Insights to tell you the different ways you can come forward to pay the fine, request a payment plan, or if you qualify to do community service. Don't live with the anxiety of having outstanding warrants. This can cause problems with your education and job opportunities. Spread the word!
