Don't be Estranged from LA Lloyd

Posted 5/17/2013 3:30:00 PM

Another pair of tickets for Guns N Roses and Alice In Chains today at 4:20pm.  I will be asking you what is my most memorable song I've seen Guns N Roses perform live.  The answer is "ESTRANGED."  They don't do this one very often but it was truly memorable when I saw them perform it in front of 110,000 people at the Rose Bowl October 3, 1992 when METALLICA opened for them.  Here is the SETLIST from that show.

Just in case you forgot what the "Estranged" video looks like, Check it out:

The Cult and Black Sabbath share a Rick

Posted 5/16/2013 4:40:00 PM

The Cult released their pivotal album "Electric" in 1987.  The band hired Rick Rubin to produce the album, which paid off as it became THE album at the time to get them to an even higher level in their career.  The band will perform this album in its entirety when they play ACL-Live at the Moody Theatre September 3.

Oh yeah, Rick Rubin, now legendary, almost a guru in the studio, just produced the new Black Sabbath album coming out June 11, 2013.

Make sure you know the Cult and Black Sabbath shared the producer "Rick Rubin" today at 5:10 to win 2 tickets to see the Cult live!

Guns N Roses covered in spaghetti

Posted 5/16/2013 4:07:00 PM

GnR's fifth studio album "The Spaghetti Incident" was unique as it cosisted entirely of covers.  The album was released November 23, 1993.  I bought it because I was such a huge fan but I could tell at this point of the band's career, there was trouble in paradise city.  This was the last Guns N' Roses album to feature lead guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum.

Know the album and release date at 4:20pm to win tickets for the River City Rockfest featuring Guns n Roses and Alice in Chains May 26 on the grounds of the AT&T Center in san Antonio.

Hey Man Nice Countdown!

Posted 5/10/2013 4:57:00 PM

Richard Patrick from FILTER will join LA Lloyd Saturday 5/11 10pm-12midnight to co-host the LA Lloyd Rock Countdown.

Filter has a new album coming out called "The Sun Comes Out Tonight" June 4. One thing that is sure to spark some controversy is Richard's comments on Gun Control. Here's why he's pissed. His wife was run off the road due to a bumper sticker on her vehicle that says "Ban Assault Weapons. Here is a snippet of what you'll hear on the show: Now enjoy the band's biggest hit, "Hey Man Nice Shot." Irony, maybe not.

About LA Lloyd
LA Lloyd has been rocking Austin and San Antonio since 1995. He was the original afternoon personality for 101X. On July 4, 2000, he began a new rock countdown called "LA Lloyd's Rock 30" that was syndicated nationally by Dial-Global, New York City. The show is still on the air in over 30 cities including Austin's KLBJ-FM, now known as the LA Lloyd Rock Countdown. Soon, legendary rocker 99.5 KISS San Antonio hired Lloyd to do afternoons and also Program Director. Lloyd was missing Austin terribly and returned to do afternoons on KLBJ-FM January 2013. He is also the station's Program Director. Every weekday, LA Lloyd is your host of the KLBJ "Happy Hour" with a 12-Pack of Rock commercial free to give you some relief from the traffic for the drive home. LA Lloyd is married to Kathi and they have two daughters, a yellow lab and a cockatiel. Life is good!
