The LIVESTRONG Foundation has teamed up with local nonprofit Faith in Action Caregivers and car2go to launch a volunteer-based transportation program for cancer patients in Travis County.
The LIVESTRONG Transportation Program provides free transportation to cancer-related appointments in the Austin metropolitan area to those in need. Volunteer drivers are needed to ensure that cancer patients make it to both medical and non-medical cancer-related appointments.
If you live in Travis County, you can make a difference. All you need is a valid driver license, current automobile insurance meeting Texas state liability minimums and access to a safe reliable vehicle.
Attend training on May 15 from 11:30am-1:00pm to become a volunteer driver. Please first apply at LIVESTRONG.org/GiveARide and you will be sent more information on the training session. If you are unable to attend this session, the next training session will be held on June 19 from 11:30am-1:00pm.
Don’t have a car or insurance? car2go is making this opportunity even more convenient to volunteer. car2go is providing the use of their vehicles at no cost to volunteer drivers participating in this program. All you need is a driver license and the desire to make a difference.
