Four- time Grammy winner and three-time American Music Award winner, Pat Benatar was one of the first female rock singers to hit the airwaves back in 1979. As a mezzo-soprano, she has had two RIAA- certified Multi-Platinum albums, five RIAA- certified Platinum albums, three RIAA- certified Gold albums and 14 Top 40 singles, including the Top 10 hits.
Songs like “Love is a Battlefield”, “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, “Heartbreaker”, “Promises In the Dark” and “We Belong” are as unforgettable now as they were at the dawn of MTV, when Benatar emerged as a fearless fighter who forged a path for other female rock stars around the world.
Changing the face of the pop charts throughout the 1980s, Neil Giraldo collaborated with his wife, Benatar. More than just an explosive steel-bending guitar player, Giraldo’s innovative vision helped him create the signature Benatar sound from its inception. His impressive back catalog includes more than 100 songs written, produced, arranged and recorded for Benatar, as well as many hits he helped create for John Waite’s debut album Ignition, Rick Springfield Kenny Loggins, Steve Forbert and The Del Lords.
Benatar earned Grammy Awards nominations in 1984 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and in 1986 for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Duo or Group. She won her three American Music Awards for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Vocalist of 1981 and 1983, and Favorite Female Pop/Rock Video Artist of 1985. Benatar was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame at the Second Induction Award Ceremony and Fundraising Gala in 2008.
