Wiener Wednesday

Welcome to my new weekly segment, Weiner Wednesday! Every week, I will attempt to make some wiener dog-related post along with a few Dachshund that are available for adoption at the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue. This week's post is of my new Facebook Timeline picture. Be sure to check out available dogs below.

I am a wienerman which is why I love to work with the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue. I would like to help these dogs find sponsors, fosters and new homes! Check out a few of the many weenies available for adoption. If you are not in a good place to adopt one of these loving animals, then feel free to donate by visiting ctdr.org. • Current Size: 17 Pounds
  • Current Age: 6 Years 6 Months  (best estimate)

Goliath, like his name has a big personality, heart and appetite.  He is shy around new people and situations but warms up quickly.  He loves to cuddle in a lap, give a lot of kisses and have his belly rubbed.  He has the puppy dog eyes down perfectly.  He is very active.  He gets so excited when he sees you grab his leash.  He loves to go for walks and runs.  He also wants to go for car rides and look out the windows.  He is super-fast when he runs and has even won at the Buda Weiner Dog Races in the past.

Dexter

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Brown/Chocolate
  • Current Size: 11.81 Pounds
  • Current Age: 5 Years 5 Months  (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes
  • Reaction to New People: Friendly

Dexter is a little shy at first, but is a very trusting dog. He loves to cuddle and is really sweet. He does seem to have his favorite person in the house and no one else will do, unless that person is ignoring him! He doesn't seem to care about the other dogs one way or another. He seems to be a people dog! He also seems to be house/kennel trained. He doesn't like to be in the kennel, but he will tolerate it if he has to.

Daphne

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Red
  • Current Size: 13 Pounds
  • Current Age: 3 Years 1 Month  (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

Howdy, Ya'll! I'm Daphne!  My friends call me Daph!  I sure hope we can be friends!  Mom sometimes laughs at me and calls me "Miss Thang" when I get in my playful mood 'cause I am sassy, and spunky and have great Doxie Attitude! Now that I have finished that horrible heartworm treatment and that long recovery period, I am ready to play and to find my Forever family and Forever home! I really love to play and to run and to snuggle and cuddle with Humans!

Bailey

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Red
  • Current Size: 11.8 Pounds
  • Current Age: 6 Years  (best estimate)
  • Reaction to New People: Protective

Hi, my name is Bailey but my foster mom calls me Bailey Boy and I love it.  I like to snuggle under blankets when I am not playing or running around.  I like to play with toys, especially if they make noise.  I am curious but sometimes I get scared.  I love having my belly rubbed and will roll over whenever you want to give me one.  I am house trained but sometimes I can't quite hold it until my foster mom or dad gets home.  I am working on it.  I love to give kisses and be held. What I really want, more than anything, is to have my own forever family that will love me.  I promise to give all the love I have back as well.

Tye

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper
  • Color: Dapple Coloring
  • Current Size: 17.4 Pounds
  • Current Age: 9 Years 5 Months  (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes
  • Reaction to New People: Friendly

If Tye could talk and you asked him what he wanted to do, he’d look at you with his warm brown eyes and say “Whatever YOU want to do!”  Actually, Tye comes very close to talking with his vocalizing which he often does.  It is his way of holding a canine conversation with you. Tye is a 9 year old dapple dachshund with a fondness for the food bowl and treats.  It’s easy to believe that Tye was the much loved longtime companion of an elderly lady who adopted him as a puppy.  Shortly before her death, Tye and Rusty were surrendered to CTDR.  Rusty has since found his forever home but Tye is still searching for his.

Serenity

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Red
  • Current Size: 15 Pounds
  • Current Age: 8 Years 2 Months  (best estimate)
  • Reaction to New People: Friendly

She is so wonderful and laid back.  She loves to cuddle, gives sweet kisses and loves belly rubs.  She is house and crate trained.  She doesn’t care to play but does love casually walking through the backyard and checking everything out.  She enjoys just laying around outside as long as she has water when she needs it.  She is calm and listens well.  She is healing nicely from the dog attack.

Cleo

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Brown/Chocolate with White
  • Current Size: 10.1 Pounds
  • Current Age: 2 Years 2 Months  (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes
  • Reaction to New People: Friendly

Cleo has to be one of the sweetest fosters I've had to date.  She's a little timid at first, especially around big crowds but give her few minutes to warm up to you and she's the first to ask for a belly rub and want to be held.  Cleo gets along with anyone she meets, people old and young, dogs big and small.  She loves snuggling up next to her foster brother and sister and is learning to burrow in her bed under the blankets just like a true doxie.  We are still working on potty training but she's getting better and better every day. Cleo's main goal in life is to be loved and give love.  Anyone who gives this sweet girl a forever home will be lucky to have her.  She would do well with another dog or solo as she deserves all the attention in the world.
