In the spirit of Thanksgiving, there are going to be several opportunities to give back to the community to those in need. Whether you're proficient in the kitchen, have a reliable vehicle or love caring for people, everyone can find a way to contribute this holiday season.

Operation Turkey

What better way to start Thanksgiving Day is to get up early with the family and cook, package and deliver meals to those who truly need it? You'll be done with plenty of time to go home and enjoy your own feast.

Meal on Wheels

Each year, Meals on Wheels depends on their volunteers to deliver meals to home-bound residents around Austin. So, whether you have family in town or you're celebrating Friendsgiving this year, take the group with you and make some peoples' days.

Turkey Trot 2013

Befor you indulge in your annual Thanksgiving feast, spend your morning volunteering for Tundercloud Subs Turkey Trot which benefits Caritas of Austin. It's a tradition for Austin families to participate in for the last 22 years, and you can make it yours as well.

Donate a Turkey

And, if you want to keep it simple, the Capital Area Food Bank accepts frozen, uncooked and never thawed turkeys at their location on South Congress.
