It's the end of the world as we know it

Reuters is reporting that one in seven people (15% of the population) believe the world will end in their lifetime and 10% believe that it will coincide with the Mayan prophecies. We think it might have something to do with all the summer movies that are about the end of the world. Personally, I don't believe the world is ending any time soon.. but if it does, I can only hope that there will be zombies.

According to the Statesman, Town Lake Animal shelter, which became a "no-kill" shelter in 2010, was forced to euthanize 17 animals last week due to overcrowding. They may have to kill over twenty more today if they can't find homes for animals. The shelter is working on a long term plans to decrease the overcrowding such as waiving the adoption fees and creating "satellite" adoption areas around time, but in the mean time-these animals need homes! If you've been thinking that you might want a new member of the family, today is the day. The Austin Animal Shelter as well as Austin Pets Alive are both overcrowded and need you to come by today!
